Almost all the colours of the rainbow this morning down at Islandhill. Plenty down there to witness it as well :)
Lovely colours just before sunrise down at Islandhill this morning. Nice and calm too. This is another photographer with something with a longer reach looking for the geese :)
Sunrise over Islandhill, Strangford Lough this morning. I had a bit of competition in trying to get prime position with flickr memberRonnieLMills - 2 Million Views...Thank you All :). We both had to get a few images before going off to work.
Lyrics by the delightful Newfoundland band called Rawlins Cross.
Wild rose in the forest,
Wild rose on the moor,
Dawn mist on the mountain,
Combers crashing on the shore.
A collage of some of my favourite pictures of Torquay. I've been doing some online learning from Blake Rudis and his f64 Academy and this is part of his course on smart objects in Photoshop. It is a template you can drag and drop images into and I liked the result. Here's hoping you do too.
"To live in a Shack by the Sea
And breath the sweet salt air
To live with the Dawn and the Dusk
The New Moon and Full Moon
The Tides, the wind, the rain
To surf and comb the beach
To gather seashells and driftwood
And know the Thrill of Loneliness
And lose all sense of Time
And be Free..."
from the song/poem "Full Moon" by Eden Ahbez
Eden Ahbez was a beatnik/songwriter/poet and frequently is attributed as being the original "hippie". Sort of like Maynard G Krebs meets Timothy Leary in one persona.
He had several successful covers of his songs. The most popular was "Nature Boy" which was released by Nat King Cole in 1948. It sold over a million copies and is still covered by today's popular Singers and Jazz groups.
My son, Shawn sent me the lyrics because he seemed to think that it reminded him of dear old Dad, lol. btw, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Shawn is a surfer, beach comber and photographer. He and his wife Venessa run a successful Jewelry business called "Arizaga", based in NYC.
One photo. Original image, textures and digital painting by me, Tom.
Thanks for kindness, comments, faves and invites !
Happy New Year to you All from somewhere near where I live...and remember to stay safe when you're out snapping. Shortly after this shot, a wave crashed over the causeway soaking both myself and "Rob from Derbyshire" He gave a right big "Bloody 'ell" afterwards :)
Heading back up to my car from the loughshore, I spotted the sun reflecting off the length of the causeway and thought "I like that"
Processing it on my computer, I went to click "open with Photoshop" and opened Photomatix by mistake. Possibly a bit overcooked but I like it? :)
Just before the sun came up down at Islandhill. Closed off now for the foreseeable future because of the Covid-19 lockdown measures. This was taken at the beginning of last year :)
A different morning from down at Islandhill. It's my go to place on my way to work most mornings but although I take a lot of photos of it, I don't always have the time to process them. A friend commented that the water looked like mercury, hence the title :)
"Lord, gyffe me grace to thi worschype,
This dey to spend in thi plesanse;
And kepe me fro wyked felyschipe,
And from the fendys comberance."
from A Medieval Morning Prayer, Anonymous
Thanks to all for viewing, faving and/or commenting! Much appreciated! L 😊
Sunrise from Islandhill, taken earlier in the year. A high-ish tide, flat calm and just me in a pair of wellies watching it. Half an hour later I was in work :)
Thirty seconds worth of just before yesterday mornings gorgeous sunrise taken from Islandhill on my way to work
I arrived at Islandhill earlier this morning in the dark and was greeted by this beautiful band of orange on the horizon. That and the moon reflected in the water. My favourite shot of the morning :)

Hazy winter light at Islandhill. The high tide was flat calm, there was a touch of mist goin' on and a slight glow in the sky.....perfect :)
Wouldn't it be nice if you could just hit the pause button now and again? Shortly after this, the sun went up behind a cloud and everything went very flat and grey :)
Taken back when I could manage to get out of bed in time for a sunrise. It's Islandhill of course :)
Don't forget to put your clocks back tonight if you live in the UK. Just before sunrise this morning taken down at Islandhill :)
A spur of the moment brought me to Islandhill this morning. I'm glad I did.....a beautiful morning, enjoyed in the company of Deek Wilson :)
Sunrise at Islandhill, County Down (No, not this morning) and I accidently clicked black and white, and thought "D'ya know? I like that "
Something from the archives again just to finish the year off.
I haven't been able to get out as much as I would have liked. A combination of other commitments, rotten weather with a wee touch of "Couldn't be assed" thrown in.
Hopefully the new year will change that?
So without further ado, a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you All and I'll see you on the other side :)
Scrabo Tower and the sun about to rise shot across Strangford Lough from the causeway at Islandhill. When it's flat calm like this, it's just a big mirror for the sky :)
Doggie plus owner on their way back from an early morning trip around Islandhill :)

A slightly different view of a previous shot, closer in on the posts. I liked the vignetting created by the clouds and their reflections :)
Lovely vivid colours on a very short window of sunrise this morning. That yellow line above the sun is the bottom edge of a cloud which it disappeared up behind shortly after :)
Down at Islandhill for a sunrise this morning. This is taken from way out along the shore to get the reflections on the water. The clocks have gone back an hour so this is the start of lighter mornings (for a while) and darker evenings :)
The best of the colours just before sunrise. No, not this morning. Sunrises far too early for me at the moment :)
